From the days when KBC was almost a monopoly with barely a single Christian station to play their song’s the Kasanga’s still stood out with the limited space in Joy Bringers every Sunday. With the likes of Easther Muoso, Faith Kithele, Hellen Mtawali and others they kept the gospel in the airwaves raising the bar for the choirs as well as claiming a good share of an industry dominated largely by the secular music. Together with his wife Anne, Japheth Kasanga created a music empire and a foundation even for the region artiste like Yusto Onesmo from Tanzania. My favourite hit from this duo is “mjaribu Yesu”, I don’t know how they did it but for over a decade now it is still a hit for me
